Wait, it's the end of October?

Okay, so first of all, I feel like Fall just started. Second I'm writing this post from my porch in seventy-degree weather while listening to the leaves rustle with the October wind. Perfection.

The end of October always seems to creep up on me, and this year has been no exception. I'm busier than I've ever been before, and the stakes feel higher, but either way, I got my edit on my new book, and so, it's time to get down to business. It's almost November, everyone! It's time for NaNoWriMoooooo!

*cue wrestling music* (whatever that sounds like because I don't watch wrestling)

If you're new to the blog and you don't know what that is, it's okay. I'm glad you're here! Let me fill you in. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month and is an organization where you can sign up and get support as you challenge yourself to write a novel of 50,000 words in a month. It's like being in an online club of people who are all cheering you on as you tackle your story 1,667 words at a time. Now is the time to sign up and declare your project! The first check-in is on Friday!

Seeing as I'm so ridiculously busy this year with my day job, I was thinking of bowing out until I came up with a better idea. I have my edit back, and I need to rewrite it before February, so ta-da! I'll be editing my book which is coming out at the end of June!

Now, this is not unheard of, and I think many people do this to help keep them accountable and on track through the editing process. If you're anything like me, editing is not my favorite part. Imposter syndrome and self-doubt can easily set in as you pick through every single word and section, deleting large chunks of passages written in a fevered passion. My hope is by signing up for NanNo this year, I will commit to editing 1,667 words a day, which for me, is roughly a chapter, of which there are fifty in the book. If I can edit over half of my book, that will be a considerable step towards getting me into the final stages of publication.
