Two milestones in one
First, an update from the editing desk for the sequel to The Secret About Time, my edit is back in, and all feedback is positive! Now when will I have the time to dig in? Great question! I have given myself two weeks in December to make it happen. After that, I'll send it off to my proofreader and start working with my cover artist. Isn't it funny how those things don't seem so scary this time around? I was freaking out this time last year.
In other news, I've knocked out two milestones in one week! Not only did my copyright come in the mail, (I feel so official!) but The Secret About Time was spotted in the wild! I ran into a friend and former coworker this past week, who informed me his partner, who is an esteemed novelist, spotted someone carrying my book around at the James River Writers Conference!!!
*passes out from disbelief*
Once I picked myself up off the ground, I peppered him with questions about when, where, and how he was sure it was actually my book, only to learn that he has my book sitting on his nightstand.
*has small heart attack*
I donβt know if the person who was carrying my book reads this blog, but thank you to whoever was carrying my book around! I don't know who you are, but you have helped me realize a life dream. I am going to take this smile and memory to my grave.
Without these milestones, and even sometimes with them, I feel like I'm just treading water until I glance behind me and see how far I've come.
Just keep swimming, everybody!
Onward,
Kathryn
