Happy Pub Day to The Secret About Time
Today is the day we've all been waiting for! It's pub day for my first book! As of today, I am officially a published author!!! If you haven't gotten your copy yet, here's the one-click link to join in!
If you've been following my blog, you know that this has been a heck of a ride, and I'm not done yet, but before I talk about the future, I want to take a minute and appreciate this milestone.
My path to publication has been a long road. I started my fifth book last week, and if you're keeping count, my first two books aren't published. One isn't ready, and it's not the right time for the other one. I've been both praised and rejected by editors and agents, plagued with imposter syndrome, lost contests, but I kept writing, even when life got hard. I kept pushing myself out of my comfort zone, educating myself not only about craft but about the business of being an author.
And now, here I am. I'm an author.
A lot of other authors treat a book's pub day as a birthday of sorts. I want to propose that a book’s publication day is more like a graduation. I've been with this story for a long time. Much like a child it started very small, made me laugh, cry, got an attitude, went through a rebellious phase for a bit there in the middle, and at the end kept needing money, but now it's leaving me and going out into the world on its own. I hope people will love it, cherish it, and be nice. I know not everyone will be so kind. It's always going to be my story, but our time when it was just us together talking about hopes and dreams has finished. I've given it the best possible launch I could afford. I've made mistakes but did the best I could to prepare it for the world, and just like a mom, even if my book is dead last on Amazon's charts, I'm always going to be so proud.
Happy Pub Day to The Secret About Time.
Congratulations and good luck.
Love,
Kathryn
