Big Announcement for the New Year!
Happy new year! I hope that this brings you much joy, prosperity, and good health. As 2018 dwindles to a series of memories, I am celebrating a more significant anniversary and am happy to share a big announcement.
Three years ago today I started writing my first novel, not sure where the journey would take me. I had loved writing in school and felt that 2016 would be my year to get back to what I knew. Not only did I leave that year behind with a finished book, but with a baby and some life lessons. In 2017, I finished another book and went to my first Writer’s Digest National Conference where I met with like-minded people and pitched my book to industry professionals.
2018 has been a great writing year as well. This past year I...
came out as a writer to my family and friends
grew my social media presence
launched this website and blog
finished my third book
wrote another 30,000 words on my new book
practiced taking criticism
researched potential editors
judged several contests
won and made finalist in more contests
joined the Virginia Romance Writers
befriended award-winning authors
saw my best friend finish her first book
As I reflect on 2018, this has been a year of quiet and subtle victories all of which have led to this moment. Sometimes the most significant achievement is sticking with something when life gets tough. While every journey is a long winding road of ups and downs, I encourage everyone reading this to start chasing their dreams today. The future is full of opportunities. All we need to do is start.
What started as a new years resolution has turned into an obsession. I do something every day to advance my goals. At night, when the house is dark, and my family is asleep, you can hear my keyboard clicking away. A soft, persistent sound, it comes from the library and echoes through the house. That is the sound of perseverance. That is being relentless.
As for 2019 you ask? Well, I have some news to share with you.
I'm proud to announce my first book will be released this summer!
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am. More details to come next week. Until then, may 2019 be the best year yet.
Onward!
Kathryn
